Marian Bantjes

When I learned of Marian Bantjes' work, it was like being connected with a creative kindred spirit. Marian is hands down, the reigning queen of ornament, handlettering, and general design awesomeness. My handlettering merely aspires to be like hers when it grows up, but she makes it look so effortless and fluid. And I love that you can sense emotion through her ornamentation and how the lettering is hidden in the ornamentation--you have to unlock or decode the message, in a way.

The label Dagmar is created and run by 3 sisters-Kristina Tjader, Karin Soderlind and Sofia Malm. Dagmar was the name of the sister's late grandmother - the muse and big inspiration source. The feeling of Dagmar is glamour and tailoring that make up much of the essence behind the clothing with a strong emphasis on quality. Dagmar unites knits, jersey and woven clothes that are equivalent of femininity, humor and quality and thus creates a opening for modern individualism.

the weekday store

The Weekday stores very first brand MTWTFSS Weekday has now developed into a full-scale high fashion brand available only at Weekday stores. The new collection is inspired by shadows and geometric shapes, with a focus on the shoulders.

Great type treatment, simple colour palette and quirky imagery make for a great poster for the 2nd Fashion in Film Festival. Found here.

Exclusively wearing her own turquoise and white creations during her frequent social outings-making her Safe Clothes' sole designer, model and press officer all at once.

Live, The Buddy System grabs the audience by the scruff of its collective neck and throws it into a strange, colorful world where cats can fly and bunnies divide asexually like amoebas. Their songs explode with all the energy you'd expect from the soundtrack to such a wild scene. But maybe "soundtrack" is the wrong word. Neither the music nor the animation take a back seat to the other. Instead, they are inextricably linked, each image synced up with a sound, like the two are playing a game of Mirror and forgot who had been leading and who had been following. The Buddy System stands in the center of all of this insanity, dressed in the colors of CMYK, surrounded by TV sets and glowing, plastic sheep.

Oi! Fergadelic is back with a new Tonite collection. Silas may not be around anymore but at least we can still enjoy the wackiness of Fergus and his tshirts. Guys tshirts are $59, girls tshirts are $44, and the cycle cap is $29.

By now you've heard about Chloë's women's collection for downtown boutique Opening Ceremony. Well rumor has it that she is collaborating with them again on her first menswear range. If it's anything like the current collection, it will reflect Chloë's quirky, eccentric personality with some early 90s influences sprinkled in for good measure. As a bonus, it will be available in small sizes for those of us girls that like a bit of boyish tailoring in our wardrobes. No word yet on when it's due for launch.

would like to invite you to join me and my friends to do some fabric printing together.

I have carved out some of my designs in rubber and potato stamps and it would be lovely if you wanted to join in and try them out. I will share some simple techniques and together we will print on cotton fabric swatches.

There will also be wine, plenty of inks and stencils and happy music to get inspired by.
